I was just like any other normal nine year old, playing cricket and badminton with friends. I was also very active in school and one day while I was playing with friends I suddenly felt severe pain in my left leg and fell down. On reaching home I told my parents about it. The pain did not subside even after three days and so I was taken to a nearby hospital. On examining me the doctor suggested MRI and CT scan. On examination a small lump was detected on my left tibia.
A biopsy was suggested and when the result came it was confirmed that I was suffering from Osteosarcoma. I was taken to CMC Vellore for further treatment and I had to undergo three chemo's. The doctors were of the opinion that if the tumor subsided amputation of the left limb could be avoided. But unfortunately the tumor grew in size. As a last resort they decided to ampute my left limb. After the surgery I started using crutches from the third day itself. I had to undergo six more chemo's. It was my insatiable zest for life that provided me with the courage and determination to fight cancer.
I tried to channelize my pent-up energy by playing badminton at the age of 20 and have ever since dreamt of representing my country. Today I am an internationally reputed Para Badminton player who has won national and international medals for the country.
I am also passionate about being close to nature, and I find great satisfaction in trekking and adventure sports. In the recent past, I have covered Naina Peak, Nainital, UK, Tandiandamol Peak, Coorg, KA, Escape route trek from Munnar to Kodaikanal, Velliangiri Hills, Coimbatore, TN, Chembra Peak, Wayanad, KL, Kottagudi Hill, Idukki, KL etc. I am happy about my recent visit to Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, a UNESCO recognized site, the highest peak in the African continent, I chased my dream and summated the Uhuru peak (19,341ft), a dream since five years!
The prayers, love and support I have been receiving from family, friends and supporters have kept me going.
